Get Cheap Upgrades

Arriving early on the day of your flight might provide opportunity for cheap deals and upgrades. Airlines often offer reduced price upgrades, such as moving to first class, on the day of the passenger’s flight.

Person Drinking Water

Stay Hydrated

Frequent flyers are more susceptible to becoming dehydrated. The humidity on a flight can get as low as ten percent. It is important to drink water before getting on the flight. Make sure to use the restroom beforehand as well in case the plane is stuck on the runway for a long time, or the seat belt sign remains on for quite some time.

Fly through Customs

Take advantage of the Global Entry program. Instead of standing in long lines at customs, this program allows members through automatic kiosks making the whole process quick and simple.

Have a Neck Massager

Flying can create a lot of tension in your body. Having a small neck massager that can used, right in your seat, and regular stretching can help you to relieve lots of tension.

Roll Your Clothes

Rolling your clothes when packing frees up space for other items up top, allowing you to get more use out of your suitcase.

Take Detergent

For extended stay trips, it might be a good idea to pack some dryer sheets and detergent packs in a Ziploc bag. If your hotel, or Airbnb, have a washer and dryer you could save space and weight in your suitcase by doing your own laundry.

Flight Attendants Advice

Flight attendants can often be great to ask for destination tips. They can tell you about best restaurants, bars, and sights.

Carry On Bag

Save Money, Don’t Check a Bag

Only pack the necessities and get away with traveling with just a carry on and a personal item.

Bring Your Own Entertainment

Technology can often fail us. Sometimes expect that entertainment options on an airline might not work. Rather than sit in misery, have your own entertainment on hand.

Fight Jet Lag

The best way to fight jet lag is to have a bedtime ritual. Routines work. Your bedtime routine could include drinking a cup of tea, reading a bit, and avoiding electronics for an hour before bed. You can also change your watch/electronics time to your destination time on the day of your trip. If possible, get some sun and even take a short nap to refresh yourself. Exercising can help you adjust to a new time zone as well.

Get a Doggie Bag

If you have to leave for an early flight and it is before breakfast is served, then ask for a doggie bag at your hotel. Some hotels offer a doggie bag of food so you don’t have to spend money at the airport and you can eat on your flight.

Have a Spare Charger

This is a necessity that would be very inconvenient to misplace. Avoid the trouble by bringing a spare.

Creases in the Sheets

If your hotel bed has no creases that could mean the sheets have been used before, and possibly by multiple guests. If there are creases in the sheets that is usually because they have been freshly washed.

Sit at the Back of Plane

For the best service, sit at the back of the plane. You are close to the flight attendants and they are more likely to answer your requests quicker than a request up at the front. Sitting on the left side might also get you off quicker because the jet way system attaches to the left side.

Pack Snacks

The snacks offered on a flight are not always enough and the menu is pretty pricey. Bring your own and avoid sitting hungry.
