Planning the perfect getaway is easier than you think. Use these tips to curate a trip you and your loved ones will remember forever.

Choose a Destination

First things first, decide where you want to go. When you’ve got an ideal destination in mind, you’ll be able to dive into some research. Look into peak travel times if that’s when you’d prefer to travel. If not, look into visiting during off seasons where things will be less crowded.

Make Travel Arrangements

When you know where you want to go, it’s easy to start making your travel arrangements. Look ahead as much as possible in order to get the best deal on flights. Find out how you’re going to get around when you arrive at your destination. It could be a rental car, Uber or public transportation. Plan ahead so you can easily hop from place to place.

Select your Accommodations

Now that you know where you’re going, choose a place to stay. Make sure you read reviews so you don’t arrive at your destination to a less than desirable hotel. You can also ask for recommendations from anyone who has already traveled to your intended destination.

Plan out Activities

Look into excursions and activities you can do while on vacation. Whether it’s swimming with dolphins or hiking to a waterfall, you want to make sure you’re able to experience some of the local attractions.

If you’re the type of person who doesn’t like to plan a lot while on vacation, plan to do nothing. Scout out some local beaches or other cool locations to lounge and relax. Choose some movies for the ultimate, relaxing day indoors. Whatever you decide, make some kind of loose plan to make the most of your time spent away.

Tie Up Loose Ends

Before you travel, make sure you get your ducks in a row. An article written for selectregistry.com explains, “Another tip on how to plan the perfect vacation is to get practical things out of the way as early as possible. This includes making arrangements for pets or getting someone to watch your home. This is also the time to make sure you have everything you need for the trip such as special clothing, any medications you’re going to need, tickets to special events, etc.”

Create a Countdown

Build some anticipation for the trip! Create a countdown to help you get excited. This will also serve as a reminder of how many days you have left to prepare for travel. A countdown will give you something to look forward to especially if you’ve booked a trip far in advance. It makes the wait more bearable.

Go Tech Free

Consider leaving your laptop and possibly phone off for as much of your trip as you can. Disconnect from the real world for a little and focus on enjoying yourself. Unplugging every once and awhile is good for you.
